Bull Cult- A Solo ExhibitionWinter 2020, Minibox Gallery at the University of California, Santa Barbara
This was my solo exhibition for my undergraduate degree in art. The theme centered around the concept of animal worship in ancient cultures, more particularly bovines in the Mediterranean and surrounding regions. Several pieces reference particular gods or goddesses and accompanying text explained the historical context behind what inspired the work. As I was doubling in art history, as well as pursuing a minor in anthropology, this subject was the perfect combination of all three fields of discipline. |

Papier-mâché CreaturesChimeric creations made with wire, papier-mâché, and acrylic paint. 2020
These creatures were created for friends and familiar after they were each asked what their two favorite animals were. I then mashed those two animals together using a wire and tape frame with both traditional papier-mâché and papier-mâché "clay", which is more suited to sculpting finer details. The feathers for the birds were crafted in the style of pinatas, with layers of colorful tissue paper glued down in overlapping rows. |

Knuckles and ToesSpring 2020, acrylic monoprints on paper, series of 7
These works are based on the Rorschach test in psychology, and were created, quite literally, with my knuckles and toes. I dipped them in acrylic paint and pressed then onto paper that was then folded in half, creating the signature reflected look of an inkblot. |
TeethSpring 2018, monoprints on paper with ink, series of 9
These monoprints were created by running paper and paint through a flatbed press to create the backgrounds. Then designs were traced over a mylar sheet with printmaking ink rolled onto the back, transferring the designs to these cuts of paper. They were then individually embellished. I took a liberal approach to the concept of Teeth, ranging from legends and concepts, to prehistoric animals, to plants and horror icons. |

The War to End War Artist Book2019, reworked book
An antiwar project, this artist book was made from a copy of The Gathering Storm by Winston S. Churchill. It is interspersed with illustrations of various WW2 propaganda posters, both from Allied and Axis countries. The book is torn, bloodied, and riddled with bullet holes, even burned in some spots. It also contains a selection of historical quotes and illustrations of weapons used during the war. |
